...football is suddenly awesome again

I grew up and still live in a small village in the middle of the East Anglian countryside, where you could walk miles down a road and see more cows than cars. I was lucky enough to have a pretty big garden, and parents cool enough to let me take over the garden to facilitate my football addiction.

I even won the FA Cup once, look. Shut up, I did ok.

Up until the age of about 13, I spent every spare moment playing in my garden, playing for my Sunday league team (Go St. Benets Wasps C Team) or watching whatever football was on TV. For my 13th birthday I was given an iPod, and that's when football was put on the back-burner and blink-182 became my new obsession. I literally spent every night watching YouTube videos of Mark, Tom and Travis and dying with laughter at every single thing they did. If you've never heard the story about how Mark saved Tom's life in the Enchanted Forest, check it out.

Dumb but fun right? Anyway. This obsession is slightly toned down now (5 years later) but is still far beyond a normal enjoyment of a band. This meant, that by the age of 17 I could not be further away from a football fan, I hadn't enjoyed watching a match for years and had barely touched a football since my last match for St. Benets.

Now though, with a concoction of the World Cup coming around once again, finding Fifa 12 for £1 on the Game website (For real, living a couple years behind in the world of gaming saves a crazy amount of money) and a Dream Team league to win, I am spending more and more time thinking about, watching and playing football. It has rather taken me by surprise, as only a few months ago, I had a conversation with a friend about how I couldn't stand how different the game was to when I was young, with the amount of cuntiness that takes place both on the pitch and in the stands. I think the quality of the matches in the World Cup so far has made me more tolerant of that so it's something I can block out and just enjoy the game. I'm having a blinding season with Preston North End on Fifa 12 as well, so that's really got me into it. But the most endearing part of me started to enjoy the beautiful game once again, is re-discovering the simple joy of having a kick about with your best friends. With the amazing weather we've been enjoying in England recently there has been a lot of opportunities to get to the park on my days off, when all the kids are at school and spend hours just kicking a ball about, making jokes and having the absolute time of my life.
...what the shit am I supposed to write

I really didn't plan anything out when I started this blog, I just wanted to do something creative, or at least have something to do at 2 am when I've started drinking coffee far too late. You see, I just got this coffee thing called an Aeropress, it's basically a cheap way of making filter coffee. It's sort of a plunger kinda thing and it makes boss coffee. It's made by Aerobie who make of the frisbees and that sort of stuff. I don't know how a company goes from making frisbees to making a coffee making device, but whatever. You see, I have 3 main loves in the world; (in no particular order) Pro-Wrestling, music and my girlfriend. I originally thought that writing about wrestling would be pretty cool and I would never run out of topics to talk about as it's an on-going sort of thing. The problem with committing to a strictly wrestling blog is that an irritatingly large amount of wrestling programming is rather shit. Also, I am terrible at keeping up with wrestling, it's hard enough to watch the multiple hours of WWE programming a week, let alone TNA, NJPW, ROH and indie wrestling which a good wrestling site would have to cover, so a pure wrestling blog is out of the picture.

I thought about a music blog (I know, heeps original right) but I don't feel that I could really cover a large enough part of the muscial spectrum because admittedly, I have a rather narrow music taste. There's not a huge amount outside of the pop punk world that's really my sort of thing. Obviously, I do listen to things other than pop punk, I've been crazy into The 1975 the last few weeks and I'm no stranger to busting out a verse or two from an Eminem song, but I wouldn't say my music taste is diverse at all. In school, I wrote a few album reviews for English lessons and they got me my best grades ever so I want to do something along the lines of telling you why my favourite bands are my favourite bands.

I'm currently in a long distance relationship and have been for the past year and a bit so I think I could give some pretty solid advice to anyone who is in the same position as me or is unsure about getting into a long distance relationship. I would like to do that sort of thing, but again, I don't feel in a position to tell people what to do.

This is taking me a really long time to write because Airplane is on Channel 4 at the moment and it's been so long since I've seen it that I have forgotten all of the dumb jokes, it's the best way to spend an early morning.

I think this blog will just be a place for me to come and vent all my frustration, all my happiness and all my experiences.

I hope someone will find this cool, but mostly, I just hope I can keep this up and make something I can be proud of.

Peace out,
Billy

I'm Billy; an 18 year old kid who wants to do something cool.

This blog will be a place for me to talk about the things I'm passionate about and share my experiences with the world.

I hope you think it's cool.
